1. Site Prep & Facility Modifications

What it includes:

• Power supply upgrades (480V, 3-phase for most systems. Some CT’s can operate on 208V, 3-phase)
• HVAC modifications for temperature control. Properly placed ventilation is fundamental
• RF shielding (for MRI) or radiation shielding (for CT)
• Structural reinforcements, flooring, and access path updates

$80,000 – $200,000+

 2. Installation & Rigging

What it includes:

• Equipment delivery and unloading
• Specialized rigging teams (especially for MRI magnets or upper floor installations)

$5,000 – $60,000+

PrizMED Tip: CT scanners are usually easier to install than MRI systems, but tight hallways, elevators, or older buildings can increase costs fast. We do a full site review ahead of time to plan accordingly.

3. Compliance, Permits & Safety Upgrades

What it includes:

• Local construction permits
  
• Fire suppression system compliance
  
• Quench pipe venting (MRI only)
• Radiation signage & lead barriers (CT only)
  

Estimated Range:
Varies by state, but expect $5,000+ minimum

4. Maintenance & Service Contracts

What it includes:

• Preventive maintenance
• Emergency repair coverage
• Access to remote tech support
• Software updates & coil warranties

$50,000 – $150,000 annually, depending on system and coverage level

5. Helium & Cooling (for MRI Systems)

What it includes:

• Liquid helium refills (for superconducting magnets)
• Quench Vent (Ventilation systems to safely manage helium boil-off)
• Closed-loop cooling system maintenance

Estimated Range:
$5,000 – $20,000+ per year

PrizMED Tip: Some modern MRI systems have zero boil-off magnets, but many refurbished units still require regular helium top-offs. If you’re getting a 3.0T, this needs to be part of the budget conversation.

6. Staff Training

What it includes:

• On-site technologist training
• Software walkthroughs
• Advanced protocol setup (e.g., cardiac, fMRI, etc.)
• Optional refresher training or cross-training for new staff

Estimated Range:

 $1,500 per day, plus expenses for up to four technicians per session
